Crossing The Bridge
As a local icon, the Peace Bridge has stood for over 75 years as a friendly reminder to the peaceful and warm relationship shared by two countries. The site of the Peace Bridge is as historic as the bridge itself. The location was strategically positioned as an important trading center more than 4,000 years ago because it was a major source of flint, it was rich in fishery and wildlife and was located at a spot on the Niagara River where canoeists could avoid the hazards of a river crossing.
The Peace Bridge is many things to many people. For tourists visiting the Niagara Region, the Peace Bridge serves as a friendly crossing to historic and rich destinations on both sides of the U.S. and Canadian borders. From the wine country in Southern Ontario and the theater district in Toronto to the ski country south of Buffalo, NY and beyond to the beaches of Southern Florida, the Peace Bridge carries families and tour groups to memorable and fun places.
