BUFFALO, NY/FORT ERIE, ON – The Buffalo and Fort Erie Public Bridge Authority (Peace Bridge Authority) announced today that the Peace Bridge will be illuminated in honour of the life, works, and civic advocacy of Canadian statesman Jack Layton.

BUFFALO, NY/FORT ERIE, ON – Today the Buffalo and Fort Erie Public Bridge Authority (Peace Bridge Authority) announced that the Peace Bridge will be illuminated in commemoration of the upcoming Canadian and American summer holidays. On Friday, July 1, 2011, the span will be lit in red and white hues, and on Monday, July 4, 2011, the bridge will feature a red, white, and blue color scheme. The light shows will commence both evenings at 9:00 p.m. (EST) and continue until 1:00 a.m. (EST).

BUFFALO, NY/FORT ERIE, ON – Today the Buffalo and Fort Erie Public Bridge Authority (Peace Bridge Authority) announced that overall NEXUS program conveyances are up more than seven percent at the Peace Bridge for the first half of 2011, as compared to the same time period one year earlier. Travelers registered over 21,000 additional conveyances at the crossing between January 2011 and June 2011, for a total tally of roughly 314,000 conveyances.

In response to substantial public request and to honor the Royal Wedding of His Royal Highness Prince William of Wales and Miss Catherine Middleton the Peace Bridge structure will showcase a commemorative lighting on the evenings of Thursday, April 28, 2011, and Friday, April 29, 2011.

The Peace Bridge will be illuminated in the colors of the Royal Crest and will follow the lighting scheme outlined below:

1.)  static royal blue, red, and gold colors along the bridge arches, truss, and spine, as well as intermittent color animation.

Notable fact – HRH Prince William’s great-granduncles HRH Prince Edward of Wales and HRH George, Duke of Kent presided over the ceremonial grand opening of the Peace Bridge on August 7, 1927, between Fort Erie, Ontario, and Buffalo, New York.

BUFFALO, NY/FORT ERIE, ON – Today the Buffalo and Fort Erie Public Bridge Authority (Peace Bridge Authority) and the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) Buffalo Section announced that Mr. Timothy Kaiser is the recipient of the 2011 Paul J. Koessler Memorial Scholarship. This scholarship award is provided annually to a State University of New York at Buffalo (UB) student who demonstrates outstanding academic achievement, active participation in student organizations and activities, and pursuit of an education in Civil Engineering.
