Board of Directors

The Authority is governed by a 10-member Board of Directors, composed of an equal number of representatives from the United States and Canada.

As an international compact, and in accordance with the Authority’s enabling legislation, the positions of Chair and Vice Chair alternate annually between the United States and Canada.

Two of the five U.S. Board members are appointed by the Governor of New York and confirmed by the New York State Senate. The three remaining U.S. members include the Commissioner of the New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT), the Chair of the Niagara Frontier Transportation Authority (NFTA), and the New York State Attorney General, or their respective designees.

The Canadian Board members are appointed by the Governor in Council acting on advice of the Minister of Transport.
